The delicate lift,
the tender pluck
of feathered body
the Spectacle.
One feather a loss
a thousand, a pillow.
Yank howl feather sob feather
Flutterweepfloatwailfeather

The hand outstretched.
The shaky step,
the collapse,
the bow.
She grazes her beak
along the dirt until it reaches his palm.
Is this how we eat from your hand, O God?
